The short answer

Whispering Hues in Gunjur has Greenwood High about 2 minutes away, TISB about 3, and Oakridge and Inventure Academy about 6 each by road (Google Maps, Saturday evening, October 2026). DPS East and Harvest are about 29 minutes, NPS East about 34, Indus 47 and Candor over 90.

If you are shopping for villas near international schools on Sarjapur Road, the useful question is not "how many schools are listed nearby" but "how long is the morning run, and for which school". Whispering Hues, the NVT villa community planned in Gunjur, sits unusually close to a cluster of campuses around Dommasandra Circle. It also sits a long way from several well-known names that often appear on the same brochure map. This guide separates the two groups with measured drive times, so you can plan a school-run before you plan a floor plan.

Everything below is at the Expression of Interest (EOI) stage of the project. The community is proposed, and a site visit does not reserve a villa.

How we measured the distances

All times in this guide are Google Maps driving times from the Whispering Hues pin (Ramnaikanahalli Road, Gunjur), measured on a Saturday evening, 17 October 2026, between roughly 5:30 and 6:30 pm. That is a useful stress test but not a school-run test. Weekday 7:30 am traffic on Varthur–Sarjapur Road behaves differently, and buses with fixed routes add stops.

The developer's sales presenter also lists indicative times (Greenwood High about 5 minutes, Oakridge and TISB about 6, Inventure about 7, DPS East about 22, NPS East about 18). Those are the developer's estimates and run a little longer than our Saturday readings for the nearby campuses and shorter for the far ones. Treat both as ranges, and do the drive yourself at your child's actual drop-off hour before you commit.

Schools within ten minutes

Five schools are within about nine minutes of the pin, which is the main reason families look at this stretch of Gunjur. Four of them are reached mainly through Ramnaikanahalli Road, so much of the trip avoids the main Varthur–Sarjapur carriageway.

School Drive from pin Distance What it is known for
Greenwood High, Sarjapur campus about 2 min not recorded ICSE/ISC campus; see Greenwood High
TISB about 3 min 1.3 km IGCSE and IB Diploma, day and boarding; see TISB
Inventure Academy about 6 min 1.5 km Cambridge IGCSE plus ICSE/ISC; see Inventure
Oakridge International about 6 min 2.1 km IB continuum; see Oakridge
The Foundation School, Gunjur about 9 min 2.7 km CBSE

Why the short hop matters

A two-to-six-minute trip changes how a family lives. A child can take the school bus without a 60-minute ride, a parent can drop and be back at a desk before the first call, and after-school clubs stop being a logistics problem. Short commutes also make mid-year school changes less disruptive, which matters for families relocating from other cities.

Schools that are a real drive away

Four well-known schools are 29 to 47 minutes from the pin on a Saturday evening, and one is over 90 minutes. They are not impossible, but each demands a bus or a dedicated driver.

  • DPS Bangalore East: about 29 minutes, 10.1 km. CBSE plus other boards offered.
  • Harvest International School: about 29 minutes, 9.9 km. CBSE, near Kodathi.
  • NPS East: about 34 minutes, 10.4 km. CBSE, off Sarjapur Road near Doddakannelli. It belongs to the same NVT group as the developer, which we disclose wherever we mention it.
  • Indus International School: about 47 minutes, 13.1 km, on the Sarjapur–Attibele side.
  • Candor International School: about 1 hour 31 minutes, 27.1 km, near Electronic City. Daily commuting is unrealistic; boarding is the sensible model.

Honest framing: a family that already has a child enrolled at one of these should still count the cost of two trips a day. A 30-minute one-way run is an hour of the driver's time per child, every school day, before any extracurriculars.

Boards and curricula, in plain language

The boards on offer nearby are CBSE, ICSE/ISC, Cambridge IGCSE with A levels, and the International Baccalaureate. They are not interchangeable.

  • CBSE follows the national syllabus and suits families who may relocate within India or aim at Indian entrance exams.
  • ICSE/ISC (CISCE) is broader in English and humanities and is available at Greenwood High and Inventure.
  • Cambridge IGCSE and A levels are used by TISB (IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10), Inventure and others, and are widely accepted abroad.
  • IB is offered in different forms: Oakridge describes the full continuum (PYP, MYP, Diploma); TISB lists the IB Diploma for Grades 11 and 12.

What the villas add for school-age children

A school nearby only solves the commute. The home still has to work for homework, friends, noise and growth over ten or more school years. Both villas are planned over three levels with a private backyard, a private terrace and a balcony for each bedroom, and the plans show a first-floor family lounge and a media room that parents commonly reassign as a study or teenage den. Bluebell is sold as 5 BHK (4 bedrooms plus a media room) and Carnation as 4 BHK; neither should be read as having five bedrooms. See floor plans for the layouts.

Outdoors, the community plans a kids' play area with a sand pit, a tot-lot, a play lawn, a cricket pitch, a skating rink and a half basketball court. These are proposed facilities, not built ones, and the amenities guide lists the full set. The wider family-friendly villas article covers play, safety and healthcare around the project.

Three household profiles, three sensible shortlists

Different families should read this map differently, and a single "best school" list hides that.

A family moving from overseas or another metro usually wants an international curriculum and a school that handles mid-year entry. TISB, Inventure and Oakridge are all within about six minutes, and TISB states that it accepts applications throughout the year subject to grade-level availability. Boarding at TISB is also an option if parents travel for work.

A family committed to CBSE has fewer campuses inside ten minutes: The Foundation School at about nine minutes is the closest listed. DPS East and Harvest are about 29 minutes out, and NPS East about 34. If CBSE continuity matters more than the length of the bus ride, count the full daily time for two children, not one.

A family that wants ICSE/ISC has Greenwood High at roughly two minutes and Inventure at about six. Inventure's website lists ICSE and ISC alongside Cambridge IGCSE and A levels, so confirm which stream your child's grade would actually join.

None of these is a recommendation of a school. They are a way to turn a list of names into a short list you can visit in one weekend. A school's culture, class size, teaching staff and fee level matter as much as distance, and only a campus visit tells you those.

A realistic weekday, door to door

Imagine a Grade 4 child at one of the near campuses. The bus or car leaves the villa gate at about 7:15, the trip is under ten minutes, and the parent is back by 7:40. Compare a child at a 30-minute school: the same morning needs an earlier alarm, a longer pick-up window in the afternoon, and a plan for the days a rain shower slows Varthur Road.

For older students the equation shifts. Teenagers in IGCSE or Diploma years stay late for labs, sport and coaching, so a short ride home at 6 pm is worth more than it looks on paper. Parents of younger children usually care most about the morning rush and the school bus time-window; parents of teenagers care about evening activities and weekend sport. The planned cricket pitch, skating rink and half basketball court inside the community are meant to take some of that evening load, though they are proposed facilities and not yet built.

One more practical point. Gunjur also has day-to-day services: the Eye Foundation eye hospital is about 14 minutes away on Google Maps, and our hospitals guide lists the larger hospitals along the corridor with their own times. The connectivity guide explains how Varthur Road and Sarjapur Road link up at peak hours.

Trade-offs worth weighing

Proximity has a price. Villas in this belt carry a premium over apartments, and the tentative basic price is Rs 5.96 crore to Rs 6.21 crore for Carnation and Rs 6.80 crore to Rs 7.05 crore for Bluebell (price sheet dated 25 September 2026, subject to change, plus other charges). See price for the breakdown.

Other things to keep in mind:

  • School zones attract buses, tempos and two-wheelers at drop-off and pick-up times, which can slow even a short road.
  • Admission is never guaranteed by living nearby. Most of the schools above run their own assessments, and the Karnataka RTE quota has a separate process.
  • The RERA registration number and possession date are not yet published. Verify on the Karnataka RERA portal at rera.karnataka.gov.in once issued, and do not plan a school year around a handover date that does not exist yet.
  • Fees change annually and by grade. We do not quote them here; ask each school for its current fee schedule.

How to plan your own school-run test

A short checklist works better than any brochure.

  1. Shortlist two or three schools from the table above.
  2. Drive from the site to each at the real drop-off time on a weekday.
  3. Ask each school whether its bus network covers Gunjur and Ramnaikanahalli Road.
  4. Check application windows; some campuses are already taking registrations for the 2027-28 year.
  5. Visit the site, see the access roads, and judge the walk from villa to bus stop.

Whispering Hues also sits within the broader Gunjur locality, where hospitals, the Varthur road and daily shopping are covered in separate guides. Frequently asked questions

Is there a CBSE school within ten minutes of Whispering Hues?

Google Maps lists The Foundation School, Gunjur Campus at about 9 minutes (2.7 km) from the pin, measured on a Saturday evening in October 2026. Confirm the board, grades offered and seat availability directly with the school, because a campus listing is not an admission offer.

Can a child commute daily to Candor International School from Gunjur?

Google Maps shows about 1 hour 31 minutes and 27.1 km on a Saturday evening, which is too long for most daily commutes. Candor's website says it offers boarding for Grades 5 to 12, so families considering it usually do so for weekly or regular boarding rather than a daily bus.

Do the developer's school times match Google Maps?

Not exactly. The developer's indicative times put the nearby international schools at roughly 5 to 7 minutes and DPS East at 22, while our Saturday-evening Google Maps readings are 2 to 6 minutes and 29. Differences come from the measuring method, traffic, and which gate is used, so verify on a weekday morning.

Does buying near a school improve the chance of admission?

Generally no. Private schools in Bengaluru run their own assessments and seat availability, and only specific quotas such as RTE follow state rules. Living close helps with transport and daily routine, not with a seat, so apply on the school's timeline.
