Weekend plans near Sarjapur Road split into two groups: things you can do within a short drive of Gunjur, and things that need a half-day. We have tried to separate them, using Google Maps drive times measured on Saturday evening, 17 October 2026, and third-party guides that we cite. Where we could not verify a place, we say so. This page complements our guide to villas near malls on Sarjapur Road and the wider family weekend activities in Bangalore piece.
Short outings within about 25 minutes
The closest things to do are retail and food based, plus one sports store. Confident Sarjapur Oxygen is about 19 minutes away, Confident Square Mall 21 and Forum The Prestige City 23 (Google Maps, varies with traffic). Details are in the Oxygen mall and Forum pages.
The Decathlon store near Carmelaram is also about 23 minutes away; sports-minded families can turn a gear run into a morning of trying out cycles or racquets. See the Decathlon guide.
Half-day mall outings
For cinema, bowling and a department store, Soul Space Spirit in Bellandur is about 53 minutes away. A mall feature on LBB lists a bowling alley, a gaming arena and a 7D entertainment zone; a PVR cinema is listed by guides. Further out, Nexus Shantiniketan in Whitefield is about 1 hour 3 minutes away, with Cinepolis and a brewery according to a mall guide. See Soul Space Spirit and Nexus Shantiniketan. Pick off-peak slots.
Outdoor and family venues from third-party guides
Several venues appeared in guides, but we have not verified them independently and drive times are not measured. An Agoda travel guide lists Sarjapur Fort as a weekend spot, with timings of 9 am to 6 pm and no entry fee, and Kaikondrahalli Lake for picnics and walks. A Mygate listing recommends Martin Farms, described as a 2-acre farm with animals, and Play Arena for activities such as laser tag, go-karting, archery and bowling. Treat these as leads, and check hours, fees and bookings directly before you travel.
On the nearby lake, Varthur Lake is covered in a separate villa guide, where we explain why Google's pin was not usable for a drive time.
Doing less, at home
Many households on this belt use the weekend for fewer, longer plans. At Whispering Hues, the proposed outdoor list is long: tennis court, cricket pitch, skating rink, half basketball court, amphitheatre, party lawn, yoga deck, hammock garden and outdoor gym, plus a clubhouse with pool, gym, squash and badminton. All of that is a plan, not a delivered facility, but it shows the intent that residents should not need to leave for exercise or children's play. See clubhouse details and the amenities overview.
Eating out as part of the plan
Pair an outing with a meal. Our restaurants and cafes guide lists places named in a recent cafe guide, with a note on which are near Kodathi and Carmelaram and which are further out.
A sample Saturday and Sunday

Times from Google Maps, October 2026; evening traffic can double them.
Seasonal and practical notes
Weather matters on this side of the city. Monsoon afternoons bring heavy showers, and outdoor spots such as lakes and farms can be muddy. Winter mornings are the most comfortable time for walks and picnics. School holidays and long weekends bring crowds to anything with a play area, so book ahead where bookings are possible. Carry water, sun protection and a spare change of clothes for children when visiting farms or play venues.
The honest view
Sarjapur Road has no walk-to-everything weekend. You drive to most things, and your weekends depend on timing. The compensation is space at home. The villas have a private backyard, a terrace and a double-height living room with a skylight. If you want that kind of home, see the overview of Whispering Hues and luxury living in East Bangalore. The project is at EOI stage, with tentative prices of ₹5.96 Cr to ₹7.05 Cr (25 September 2026).
